txtr enters partnership agreement with Random House

Berlin, April 15th, 2010.

The German eBook start-up txtr GmbH has closed a content delivery deal
with the publishing group Random House, enabling txtr to offer eBook titles by over 40 publishers directly through the txtr online Store. Users of the txtr platform, and future users of the txtr Reader will now be offered additional high quality content by renowned publishers, such as Luchterhand, Heyne, Goldmann, DVA, Knaus and C. Bertelsmann. The new addition already comprises more than 2400 digital titles, which are constantly extended by new publications and electronic versions of backlist titles.

The txtr Store, which is currently offering more than 20,000 digital books in German language—the largest collection of German eBook titles in EPUB format—gains additional appeal with the new agreement. Its offering includes current best sellers in fiction, interesting non-fiction titles, eminent long sellers and many new discoveries. The recent agreement is good news for ardent readers, since the Random House publishing group offers a comprehensive eBook program, including modern classics like Friedrich Nietzsche’s “Thus spoke Zarathustra”, or Richard Yates’ “Easter Paradise”, as well as acclaimed top authors and gripping new releases, such as “Payback” by Frank Schirrmacher and crime stories by Stieg Larsson and Ian Rankin. “We are very happy about this addition to the quality of our outstanding eBook offering,” says Ulrik Deichsel, New Business Developer at txtr. “Future chances in our business will depend on the best content offering for the whole variety of different device platforms.” Dr. Frank Sambeth, COO of Random House, says: “We are glad to be able to now offer eBooks by the Random House publishers on the innovative txtr platform, too—both for reading on the txtr Reader, and on the iPhone.”
